For students waking up in the morning, getting ready for school is no problem, but then the issue of transportation occurs: leaving students with multiple options in order to get to school. Since FWPA doesn’t use buses to transport students, the students must find other ways to get there, such as walking, carpooling, or another option.
One way people get to school is by walking their way there. Students Caleb and Cayden Johnson take different routes to get there, sometimes even taking shortcuts or detours on the way home. “I use a shortcut by the hospital to get home sometimes,” Cayden stated.
Some of the benefits of walking are being able to get exercise, while also being able to leave the house on your own time without having to rely on parents to drive you. Some problems can arise from this, such as it’s easy to be late as it takes time to walk and get to school if one were to wake up late.
Some students carpool together such as Edward Wersom, who carpools with Brandon Guevarra and Bryse Powlus, swapping drivers every so often.
This way of getting to school can be useful as it can take multiple students to school on time. But if a driver is late it could ruin the schedule for the kids carpooling. Brandon states, “I take more than 10 minutes sometimes so the schedule gets changed to a bit later.”
But how do students get back home? Well most take the same way back but Jayden Stakhov takes the public bus back home, with his parents being unable to pick him up. “Sometimes my dad picks me up,” Jayden explained, as his way of getting back home would change every so often.
This way of getting home is very useful as the bus is free for teenagers to take, making it fast and free to get home, although the bus could be late, and so the student would arrive home a bit later than usual.
These are the multiple ways students get to school and get back home. With each way being different for each situation and depending on how close or far they live from FWPA. Sometimes the transportation can change every once in a while. From unexpected events or a different way being used, students can always have a way to get to school.
