Now that Winter Break and the New Years have passed, what are some resolutions that you made? Some examples could be exercising more, not procrastinating on homework, or reading a book every day.
But most importantly, putting yourself out there more? This year’s 6th, 7th, 8th, and 9th grade talent show was a great way to complete that goal. Many people joined, all displaying various different talents.
Josiah Zimoglyad, a sixth grader, played the saxophone. He first started playing when he was around 10 years old, starting at his church. His parents got him into it, and has been playing it ever since. At his old school, he also had talent shows where he would perform in, also playing the saxophone. Overall, he thought the talent show went well. He said, “I was kinda happy because it was one of the songs I like.”
Pablo Alverado, a seventh grader, sang while playing the piano. He first got into singing when he was 11 years old, at his church. When he was in 6th grade, he joined the talent show, playing the piano as well. He decided that he would most likely continue to play the piano and sing for his following years at FWPA. “It felt scary,” he said, “but in my opinion, it went okay.”
AJ Adolphin, an eighth grader, played the trumpet. Last year, Mr. Jacobus, FWPA’s building substitute at the time, had after-school clubs for both orchestra and band. AJ first started learning how to play the trumpet from him, being in band since sixth grade. This year, on Tuesday mornings from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 a.m., he joins the morning band class with Mr. Seigmund teaching them. After the talent show, he said, “It felt pretty great, I think I did great.”
Talina Polivoda, a ninth grader, said the talent show was fun to watch because of all the different talents the FWPA students had. Her favorite parts of the show were when people played the piano. What caught her attention during the show was, “The kid doing the karate moves, I didn’t expect someone to know karate but he did very well.”
Esther Song, a tenth grader, thought that the talent show was very interesting. She enjoyed the acts, even though they weren’t what she was expecting. She said, “I really liked the singing. I thought they were really good.” At the end of the show, the tenth graders showed a video of their memories and then went up on stage for the ending. This is what caught her attention during the show.
These were only a few of the acts from the 6th, 7th, 8th, and 9th grade talent show. What do you think of these talent show acts? What was your favorite talent? Next year, make sure to join the talent show if you’re interested!
