Heinrich Schulz, along with many other athletes that attend Federal Way Public Academy, puts in extra work that we don’t see.
Heinrich started playing volleyball less than two months ago and is already achieving goals. When Heinrich was talking about volleyball he always went back to the topic of spiking, saying “I play middle blocker so I like to block and spike hard shots.” Even though he just started, he has already accomplished things most players haven’t. Due to his height, he finds it easy to get onto the net. His favorite thing to do is block and hit because the hitters can’t do anything about it. This type of return is harder to hit because of the high speed of the ball.
Heinrich was inspired to play volleyball because of the number of friends who played it. “The way my friends talked about it made it sound fun so I thought I would give it a try,” he explained. “Volleyball is one of the toughest sports mentally and physically.”
He is encouraged to keep going because doing small things like perfect passes and swings feel really rewarding. “Even just small accomplishments make it worth all the hard work,” he said.
