Have you ever thought, I wonder if people even know the different hobbies I do? Do they know that I play basketball or play the violin? On December 19th, 2024, the 6th, 7th, 8th, and 9th grades will hold a talent show to show off their talents. There will also be a separate tenth grade talent show and legacy assembly in the spring.
In the last few years, the talent show has been formatted differently. They were split into a 6th, 7th, and 8th grade talent show with a separate 9th and 10th grade talent show and legacy assembly. Also, back then, we used to only have rehearsals, but this year is different as we are going to have auditions instead.
Let’s say a few days after reading this section in the article, you decide to join the talent show. What do you do next? The next step would be to go through that audition to make sure you’ll be able to shine on stage with the right and appropriate talent.
The auditions will be held in the Commons on December 4. They are like rehearsals, but there will be judges that watch and make sure the talents would be good and appropriate enough. The judges are Mrs. Camp, students in ASB, and teachers. The dress rehearsal will be held on December 18th, the day before the show.
A few people are already thinking about joining the talent show. For example, Michael Gasanov, a 9th grader, is thinking about performing. He has been in the talent show a few times already and encourages everyone to join as well. In seventh grade, he did a dance performance with two of his friends. In eighth grade, he and a big group of friends sang ‘Baby’ by Justin Bieber. This year, he is deciding whether to sing or dance. When asked if he’s nervous to perform on stage, he replied with, “Nah, I’ve embarrassed myself enough.”
Sofia Corbett, an 8th grader, is thinking about joining as well. Last year, she participated in the talent show, singing ‘Winter Wonderland’. This year, she is also going to be singing. She says she’s terrified to go onto the stage, but says she will do even better this time. When asked whether or not she was scared to go onto stage, she replied with, “Yes, because last time it didn’t go well. I picked a song I didn’t exactly know by heart and I screwed up, but people still seemed to like it.” I asked if she felt more prepared this time and she said, “I’m not as prepared, but I’ll try to pick a song I know better.”
Jenn Bui, a 7th grader, is thinking about singing with a friend. She said, “I have stage fright but it doesn’t mean I don’t want to perform.” If you decide to go through the auditions to join the talent show, don’t worry or be nervous, because this is an event that everyone is welcome to be a part of. Make sure to invite your friends to tag along with you and we hope that you all enjoy watching people show off their talents to the whole entire school!
