The Premier League had some teams that were in the midst of relegation (bottom 3 teams and the end of the season go to the championship which is bad) last season in the top 4 this season. “It was great to watch some underdogs rise up and fight for champions league football,” exclaimed Sebastian Pitayo. Another top 5 league is La Liga, Barcelona reclaimed their title as champions after a 2-0 win against Espanyol. “I was so happy when I saw my team lift that trophy, I was sitting in my living room with my family and we had a fun time. I totally forgot about the Champions League loss against Inter. All I cared about was that moment,” Juan Tobar stated. Barcelona lost 6 games out of 37, but they haven’t lost a single league game in 2025 so far. As Essa mentioned above, they were close to losing to Madrid, but somehow made a comeback before half time.
Bayern Munich also won the Bundesliga with 82 points, 13 points ahead of 2nd place. This was very special because it was a legend’s last season there. Ever since 2008, Thomas Muller has been at Bayern winning a total of 33 trophies. Many people on social media say that this is one of the best ways to let go of a club legend. “I remember how he was very crucial to Bayern winning both their trebles in 2012-13 and 2019-2020, he was such a joy to watch, how he would control the momentum of the game was just amazing,” remembered Jaylynn Lopez. Bayern have also won the Bundesliga 12 times since 2010, losing to unbeaten Bayer Leverkusen last season. Sporting also won Liga Portugal, their striker Viktor Gyökeres scored 39 league goals, making him the top scorer in European football this season.
All in all, soccer this season has had many surprises from bottom tier teams fighting for a spot in the Champions League, to big teams fighting from relegation. We have had teams make comebacks from last season like Barcelona, Bayern, and Liverpool, to teams losing their momentum and going trophyless this season such as Manchester City.
