
Students from the study club finish homework or get help from others. Study club is the perfect place to get help with any work that you're struggling with. “Ever since I started going to study club, I have been turning assignments in on time way more often,” proclaimed Juan Tobar Blanco.
Clubs at FWPA are a way for students to make friends, engage in community-building activities, and participate in groups about subjects they are passionate about. To encourage students at FWPA to join clubs, this article will describe various clubs held on Thursday.
GSA (Gay Straight Alliance)
GSA is held in room 509 and is advised by Mr. Roberts. It takes place every Thursday from 3 to 4 p.m. GSA is whatever students need it to be; it could be a place where they chill, talk about how they are feeling, or come up with any coping mechanisms if needed.
BSU (Black Student Union)
BSU is held in room 203 and advised by Mrs. Rangeloff. It takes place every Thursday from 3 to 4 p.m. BSU is a space where students can learn about Black culture and history. They will also be able to participate in discussions about social justice, academic support, and cultural events. Next year the president of BSU will be Royce Daneels-Berg.
Gardening Club
Gardening Club is held in room 102 and is advised by Mr. Genzlinger. It takes place every Tuesday and Thursday from 3 to 4 p.m. In Gardening Club, students can help beautify the school and get community service hours by doing activities like getting rid of ant branches, twigs, or leaves found on the ground.
Study Club
Study Club is held in room 103 and is advised by Mrs. Laatz. It takes place every Tuesday and Thursday from 3 to 4 p.m. In Study club, students will be able to give or receive aid and tutoring from members of Honor Society in any subject that they struggle with. Next year’s supervisors are Ericka Sun and Amelia Htoo.
